Volunteer Opportunities

There are many volunteering opportunities involved with a competitive swim program. We have created four committees for the season. If we want this season to run as smoothly as possible, then we need all parents or guardians to help in some capacity. There are many volunteering opportunities involved with a competitive swim program. We have created four committees for the season. If we want this season to run as smoothly as possible, then we need all parents or guardians to help in some capacity. You could become a member of any of the committees or you may elect to become a regular timer. Either way, we need everyone to become involved!

We Want To Know Who You Are!!
As a volunteer at the , it is important that you do log your volunteer hours. If you do put in any amount of time such as deck coaching, being a part of a committee, or are a swimmer helping a swimmer, we do need to log your hours that you volunteer. See Coach Steve on how to do this, we have a special book to put everything in!

Swimmers Helping Swimmers
We like to get everyone on the team involved, and this even includes getting some older, experienced swimmers to help out our younger ones. A swimmer must be 13 or older to participate in this program. Swimmers get a chance to show drills for younger swimmers, help write down practice results (working closely with coaches), work one on one with swimmers on starts, turns, or the stroke of the day, and help with dryland.

Committees

Meet/Results Committee/Timing System Team
This group will be responsible for the set up of all home swim meets. Committee members recruit timers, bullpen help, scorers, results people, and photographers are needed. The main concern of this committee is to help the coach run and organized and productive swim meet. This will allow the coaches to concentrate on the swimmers, rather than worry about how the meet is running. The coach will be communicating directly with this committee prior to all home meets.

The timing system team, an offshoot of the MEET COMMITTEE, is a group of volunteers in charge of operating and setting up/taking down the timing system at the swim meets. We have a rotation of up to twelve individuals who are in charge of our system, which consist of up to three operators and nine set up personnel.

Fundraising Committee
This group will be in charge of all aspects of the team's fundraising events and track it's progress. The major job of this committee is to organize and run all home swim meet bake sales, and run annual fundraising events. This committee works closely under the supervision of the head coach to determine fundraising events for the year and projects the funds will go toward. Some of the events the committee handles are Splash for Cash, bake sales, road rally's, and car washes.

Special Events Committee
This committee has the job of putting together the team banquet and any other social gatherings (Winter Social for example). This group would be able to organize and run all team gatherings with the help of the coaching staff. So, if you are a creative person, and would like to help with the banquet or team gatherings, then this is for you.

All committees will be run by a committee chairperson or co-chair who will be in direct communication with the coach. So, please become involved in making your child's experience on the Manchester Swim Team a happy one!!
